My progress on the Diane challenge

Here is the "Diane Challenge":

From November 1st to Thanksgiving Day, choose one unique thing every day that you are thankful for...It can be anything from your family and friends to the automobile that gets you places. Simply list the item or elaborate as much as you like and post it on your xanga or facebook for all to read...It's as simple as that! Some may find it difficult, some may find it super easy, but just take a few minutes each day to remember something great in your life, and give yourself something to smile about.

If you choose to accept this challenge, post it in your xanga or facebook along with the above summary so that others can take up the challenge...Try to keep up with it the best you can, and see what happens...I love it and hope many of you will participate!

We all should do this every November for one simple reason: the stress we experience at this point in the school year often blinds us from the blessings that surround us every day. This challenge is a chance for everyone to remind themselves of the things that make their lives go round and to remember that despite the overwhelming schedules and demands on us right now, there is still much in the world to be grateful for. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year, and this challenge also helps it to last a little bit longer.

Nov. 1~ I am thankful for my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. He blesses me every day, and I am not nearly worthy nor grateful enough. Despite my daily gifts, He gave me the ultimate gift of His sacrifice to take my sins away and give me an eternal home in Heaven. I pray that I never despair to the point that I forget what my purpose in life is: to worship Him.

Nov. 2~ I am thankful for my wonderful fiance, Andrew. He is my soulmate and best friend, and he is my perfect match that God created for me in heaven. We are going to start our new life together soon, and we are both very excited and anxious for July 31st to get here soon. I pray that God will continue to ease the pain of our long-distance relationship and to make it easier and easier to be apart in the months to come.

Nov. 3~ I am thankful for my roommates. It's been hard and stressful, yes. But I freaking love you girls. Let's keep praying about this and continue to figure out how to work all of this out. When all is said and done, I love living with people that I care about. It feels like a good home away from home when I can vent on you guys and see you every day. Thank you for living with me!

Nov. 4~ I am thankful for my adorable kitty cat, Cuica. Having a cat is so calming and wonderful for my life right now; when I don't expect it, Cuica jumps onto my lap or chest and just purrs. It's so calming and makes me feel loved. :)

Nov. 5~ I am thankful for music, my purpose in life and my outlet for the talents God has given me. I am thankful for every day that I have an opportunity to make beautiful music with people that I care about. Nothing is more fulfilling.

Nov. 6~ I am thankful for the convenience of the technology I use the most: my laptop and my cell phone. If I didn't have a laptop computer, I'd have a lot less work that I could do throughout the day, so it makes my life SO much easier. I'm lucky to have one that works well. And, I am still very thankful for my cell phone. I remember not to long ago I was a freshman in college with a dorm phone and a long-distance phone card so I could call home or call all of my friends' cell phones. I still had to memorize phone numbers back then, so it's really nice I don't have to do that anymore. Haha!

Nov. 7~ I am thankful for roadtrips! Nothing helps you relax like a nice drive on the highway headed out of town. It also helps to have a special someone in the passenger seat. Being able to travel every once in awhile is truly a blessing.

Nov. 8~ I am thankful for our veterans. They gave us a huge sacrifice so that we could live better in America. Thank you to all who serve us so willingly.

Nov. 9~ I am thankful for Concert Chorale. 3 years in a mediocre choir made me really thankful for a choir full of musicians of my caliber. I never take my membership in the group for granted, and so I am also thankful for my humility.

Nov. 10~ I am thankful for caffeine! Enough said.

Nov. 11~ I am thankful for food. It makes me happy and gives me energy. It also helps with not be cranky! LOL.

Nov. 12~ I am thankful for my fellow G.A.s. I have formed 3 brand-new friendships this year, and I've been the better for it! They have made the fall that much more tolerable and fun by sharing that office space with me. I am also thankful for how well we've worked together as a team when it's been needed. I am very happy with our situation, and I'll miss them in the spring!

November 13~ I am thankful for Fridays. That show you that, yes, you can make it through the end of the week and you are about to get a much deserved break. I think I'm hooked on the euphoria of Fridays.

November 14~ Today, I am thankful for my store credit cards. Not normally! But when you last-minute need to buy something to wear TONIGHT and you have no cash to spare, they're a nice thing to have. They just got me and Andrew out of a ditch, pretty much! Yay!

Operation GET SKINNY

The thing is, I don't particularly like the way I look or the way I feel.  Body-wise.  I tend to not have much energy anymore, and I have almost no endurance.  Going up one flight of stairs gets me a bit out of breath (more than it used to!)

So, I'm doing something about it.  Andrew and I, as far away as we are from each other right now, made a pact.  He's put on a lot of weight in his tummy area, and I haven't gained much but I stopped dropping pounds.  We want to live healthy long lives together, and look good doing it!

I'm going to make a better effort to improve my diet.  I made good progress this summer by making smoothies for myself, but I've been lazy lately.  That needs to stop!  I need to take the time to make wholesome, filling food for myself.  Yes, yes, yes.  This one is big for me.

I am going to engage in my own exercise routine.  I'm thinking short jog in the morning, and swimming laps at night.  When I used to have one, I was more focused and happy throughout the day.  I'm going to do it again.  It'd be nice to have my accoutability partner here with me, but I'm a strong girl.  I can do it!

I'm not looking to get super-model skinny, but I am looking to tone up.  I'm carrying a lot in my middle section that I don't need.  So, I'm letting it go!

P.S. I wanna look good in my wedding dress and on my wedding night

summer lovin', had me a blast

Although this summer is MUCH different than last summer, it's still fun.

Andrew and I played ALL last summer.  He didn't have a job but went to summer school, I worked about 30 hours a week, and the rest of the time we were together.  We didn't go on any road trips, but we did watch a lot of movies and drink a lot of beer.  We cooked a lot of meals together and went to a lot of bars.  We went shopping a lot and went to countless movies.  It was a good first summer, the way it should be.  Lots and lots of play dates and stay-in dates.

This is a good summer too, but not as fun.  We're closer, but we don't hang out together as much as we did.  We both have jobs, and on top of it I have summer school too.  I'm stressed out over school, and he's stressed out over finding a job.  We have had a day trip, and we have two more planned for the summer.  No vacation road trip, so we'll have to do that next summer.

I just miss the summer that was free of school and free of stress.  I miss being a child without worries.  I don't like worrying about money, the economy, and my future.

This summer has been wonderful just as much as it has been stressful though, and for that I am grateful.  I love Andrew so much more every single day than I did the day before.  We'll make it through...next summer will be wonderful.
